Tarakanatha

Project Manager

Tarakanatha is an ex-miner and rugby leader born and raised in Abertridwr, Caerphilly. He has over 30 years’ experience as a spiritual practitioner and teacher of meditation and Bhakti Yoga. Not your typical yoga master, Tarakanatha is a man of the people who is not afraid to put his back into it. He is the personification of huel and has a heart which is full of compassion for the wellbeing of everyone around him.

Over the years, Tarakanatha established and led several projects in Wales in a spirit of supporting the local community. In that mood, he is always hard at work to encourage, inspire and maintain the ethos of care and positivity within Ty Krishna Cymru, The Atma Lounge and Food For Life.

Misrani

Project Mother & Spiritual Care Coordinator

If Tarakanatha is the pioneering father of Bhakti Yoga in Wales, Misrani is the true mother of the Ty Krishna Cymru family! For over 20 years, she has been providing personal guidance to countless individuals seeking to develop their spiritual life. She is uniquely talented in listening and understanding others. Her steadiness often provides the solace needed weather the storms of life. Caring for others is an intrinsic part of who Misrani is.

She is also a meticulous organiser and manager, who is able to keep everything running smoothly. Her attention to detail is legendary, being always conscious on how to deliver the most efficient service. Her work ethic is so mind-blowing, many wonder about the source of Misrani’s superhuman strength. It goes without saying that without her (and her delicious cookies and cakes), Ty Krishna Cymru would fall apart !

Gopala

Head of Outreach & Education

Born and raised in Swansea, Gopala has spent over 10 years in the monk ashram, perfecting his bhakti yoga practice. His constant meditation is on how to better share spiritual practice with others for their benefit. He is a driving force of spirituality in Wales, offering endless inspiration to the community through his powerful enthusiasm and sense of humor.

As head of the education and outreach department at Ty Krishna Cymru, Gopala is always coming up with new exciting and insightful courses and events. In doing so, making wellbeing accessible and tailored to the individual are his key motivators. Indeed, teaching how complex ancient bhakti yoga texts apply to day-to-day modern issues is his bread and butter. If you want to get to know Gopala more, check out BBC Three’s “Young, Welsh and Pretty Religious” in which he was featured!

Gopi

Head of Food For Life & the atma lounge

The project’s local emphasis has attracted more than one community member from Swansea. Gopi was also born and raised there. She recently married Gopala and together they form a perfect team, combining their strengths to serve the community in South Wales. She has been practicing Bhakti Yoga for over 5 years. She is a shining example of dedication and selflessness.

Because of her humble and gentle nature, she does not broadcast her instrumental involvement in the establishment of the Food For Life project. Having previously worked in the care sector, Gopi has a natural affinity in providing care and support for disadvantaged communities. Since March 2020, she has worked tirelessly to run all day to day aspects of the Food For Life project. All the while, simultaneously managing The Atma Lounge since 2017. Inconceivable, we know!
